The Woods Wire property and the area around it has always been of interest to me. Recently, plans were revealed to redevelop a portion of the area where there are existing thriving businesses. And, an established single family housing neighborhood is directly adjacent to the proposed tall buildings. I chose to examine the area with respect to the existing, industrial man made landscape juxtaposed with recent redevelopment. The contrast is quite evident, especially with regard to Carmel’s penchant for non-evolutionary approach to growth.

Carmel’s “City Center” is an area that I plan on photographing in depth. Julie and I made a trip over to it to scout for the future. I saw a photograph that I had to make on that chilly, blustery Sunday. The reflecting pool and the surrounding buildings are one of the first ventures that the ongoing Carmel administration redeveloped. This is where they started to build what was to be their vision of Carmel, a completely man made landscape.
